⁸ But Abner son of Ner, commander of Saul’s army, had taken Ishbaal^[a] son of Saul, and brought him over to Mahanaim. ⁹ He made him king over Gilead, the Ashurites, Jezreel, Ephraim, Benjamin, and over all Israel.
